I have a dream that someday I will be cruising down the highway in my dream car.
At the rate science and technology is advancing, I know that my dream will soon
become a reality. Although I don't know much about the rudiments of cars and
their fancy names, I do know what I want in my dream car. First and foremost,
the car should definitely be a half-truck and half-sport utility vehicle. I will
be using it to transport my children, my pets and in-laws as well. Although a
mini-van will do just as nicely, I do not want to look like a pasar malam
trader. The bucket-seats should be foldable or even removable to suit my needs.
For example, I need some space for children to stretch and play during long
journeys or watch their favorite programs on the built-in television and
computer. Of course, the built-in child safety seat can also be easily folded
when not in use.
Thanks to technological advancement, my dream car will be computerized. I
will be able to receive traffic or weather updates, listen to my voice e-mail or
even ask for directions. It will also be able to suggest alternative routes
during a traffic jam or warn me to avoid a certain road. The computer will also
provide important information for forgetful people like me such as the dates to
renew my road tax and license. To keep me awake on long journeys, there is a
video camera that focuses on the driver. If my eyes begin to blink or droop due
to tiredness, the system will sound the alarm, suggesting that I should take a
break.
Next, for safety reasons, my dream car will be able to detect and adjust my
speed and automatically apply brakes when necessary. It will also be able to
avoid skidding with its traction control. This is important for rainy days when
my vision might be affected. If my car sways into another lane, the computer
will take control and steer me back to safety with its lane-sensing video
cameras. For night driving, the car's sophisticated night vision system will
project any object that lies beyond the range of my headlights.
To avoid theft and burglary, it will also have a state-of-the-art alarm
system. If there is any attempt of a break-in, the car will notify me on the
mobile phone as well as the police. If the thief is able to activate the system,
the car can only travel to the nearest police station before it cruises to a
halt and all systems shut down.
These features that were once considered unimaginable just ten years ago are
now a reality. My dream car will definitely be one that suits my life and be fun
to drive around. In the meantime, I will be zooming round town with my modified,
sporty yellow Kancil. See you on the highway soon! |
