It was a Saturday. On top of that, there was a sale at Merry Shopping Center. The crowd there was quite huge. Karen told her little sister to hold onto her hand as they entered the shopping center. Tomorrow was their mother's birthday. Karen and her sister went up the escalator to the third floor where there were shops selling brooches and rings. Karen was so engrossed in looking at the lovely brooches that she simply forgot all about her little sister. When she finally chose one and turned around, she was shocked to discover that her sister was missing. She panicked. Calling out her sister's name, Karen went searching all over the third floor.

She started to cry when her sister did not respond to her calls. She looked at the escalator and a horrible thought went through her head. "No, please don't let that happen," she prayed in her heart. Suddenly, she heard a familiar voice behind her. She turned around and to her relief, there was her sister, holding an ice cream in one hand and holding out another to Karen.
