Read the passage carefully. Then choose the correct answer.

Irene sat quietly by the window and sighed, "Where are you, Fluffy ? Please come back soon."

Her mother came in, sat beside her and stroked her head. "Don't worry, Irene, we'll find her." Irene hugged her mother and cried.

Fluffy was the closest thing she had to a sibling. When she came home from school, Fluffy would be the first one to greet her. After finishing all that needed to be done, Fluffy would be all set to have a game of catch. Fluffy would known when Irene was too tired to play and would simply sit quietly on her lap and let Irene stroke her. Irene felt that Fluffy was the only one who understood her. Irene loved her with all her heart.

Then one day, something terrible happened. She came home and realized Fluffy was gone. Her mother had no idea where Fluffy was. Irene searched and called but Fluffy was still not around. When her father came home, she pleaded with him to go out and look for Fluffy. He came home empty-handed. That night, Irene tossed and turned n her bed. She prayed hard that Fluffy would return to her safely. The next morning, there was a surprise for Irene. There sitting on the sofa was Fluffy ! Irene ran forward and hugged her. Silently, she said, "Thank you !"
