Read the passage carefully. Then choose the correct answer.

It was the best plan ever. First we would make sure she was out of the house. Then we'll get all the necessary work done. By the time she got back, it would be wonderful. So, we got to work. Now, how to get her out of the house ? Well, we came up with the clever trick of telling her that we desperately needed some school stuff. Ever the concerned mother, she went out to get them.

The first part of the plan was done. Next, we got together the important people and made sure there were no signs that they were there. All shoes were locked away. Then, the whole house was given a makeover. Balloons and streamers were displayed. It really made the house look nice. Then, we waited.

When we heard her car driving up the porch, we held our breath. The moment it opened we shouted, "Surprise!" The look on her face was worth a million dollars. Laughing and crying at the same time, she hugged all who were there. Lastly, she came to use. She said, "My best gift of all is my two lovely daughters." And she hugged us tight.
