The Elusive Pursuit of Happiness

Happiness is a concept that is subjective and individualistic. It is a state of being where one experiences joy and contentment, but what constitutes happiness varies from person to person.

Children find happiness in simple things like receiving a two-wheeler or meeting their favorite Disney characters in Disneyland. Teenagers are ecstatic when they meet their pop idols, while mature adults are thrilled to meet famous actors or musicians. For some, academic achievements bring happiness, such as receiving a scholarship to study overseas or passing an exam to enter a university college. Meanwhile, for those who are struggling academically, even just passing an exam and receiving a local scholarship brings immense joy.

People who have been struggling financially or living in poverty can find happiness in owning their first motorcycle or receiving the keys to a low-cost one-room house. Similarly, those who have lost their homes due to natural disasters can experience happiness and gratitude when receiving financial aid to rebuild their homes.

Finding a job can bring happiness to the unemployed, as it offers the promise of a better future. However, highly paid employees may find it difficult to experience happiness due to factors such as low pay, limited chances for promotion, and an overbearing boss. It is only when one has hit rock bottom that they can truly appreciate the little things that bring joy and happiness.

The pursuit of happiness can be elusive and challenging. However, it is important to work towards happiness and to believe that we all deserve to be happy. While it may take very little for some to find joy, others may need to work harder to find it.

In conclusion, happiness is a highly subjective concept that varies from person to person. The pursuit of happiness can be challenging, but we all deserve to experience it. It is important to focus on the little things that bring joy and contentment and to work towards achieving our personal happiness.
