When I think of the person I admire most, the first person that comes to my
mind is my father. He may not be a well-known public figure or a person who
has accomplished remarkable feats, but to me, he is an inspiration.
My father came from a humble background in Malacca. His parents couldn't
afford to provide him with higher education, so he had to help out in the
padi fields. However, at the age of eighteen, he decided to leave his
village and move to the city to look for work.
He started as a peon in a small textile company, but he didn't let his lack
of education stop him from progressing in life. His superiors were impressed
by his hard work and dedication, and they advised him to continue his
studies by taking part-time classes. My father took their advice and
enrolled himself in evening classes, where he learned English and other
subjects.
After a few years, he earned his diploma through his studies, and soon
after, he was promoted and sent to manage the Singapore branch of the
company. My father never spent money recklessly, and he never drank or
smoked. When he came to Singapore, he met my mother, and they got married
the following year. A year later, my eldest brother was born.
My father has always been devoted to his work, and he remained with the same
company throughout his career. He constantly improved himself and grew with
the company, eventually becoming one of the directors. When the old
patriarch who founded the company passed away, his two sons decided to sell
the Singapore branch to my father. This was a great achievement for my
father, who had worked hard to get to where he was.
My father is an exemplary figure to me. He has given our family everything
we need, and he sets a great example for us to follow. He is never angry
without a good reason and is always kind, cheerful, and helpful. His life
story shows that with hard work and dedication, anyone can succeed,
regardless of their background.
As his child, I hope that I can live up to his example and become a
successful and responsible person like him. He has taught me that education
is important and that working hard is the key to success. He has also taught
me the value of money and how to save it wisely. These are lessons that I
will carry with me throughout my life. |
