Jiangsu Province is considered to be a relatively
economically developed region in China, and the Changzhou and Wujin areas
are no exception. In such a prosperous area, the dining scene is an
important indicator of the region's prosperity. Today, we interviewed a few
"stakeholders" to see how they view and treat the dining scene.
First, we visited a small food stall on the street. Although it was small,
it offered a wide variety of food and provided attentive service. We spoke
to the "owner" of the stall, an elderly man, about the history of the stall.
He said it was passed down from his father, and he and his wife relied on it
to make a living. He proudly showed us the "Qualified Food" certification he
had received.
Next, we visited a larger stall, the traditional family-owned pan-fried
dumpling shop. The shop has a long history and is known for its delicious
and affordable dumplings, cleanliness, and attentive service. It is always
bustling with customers. People come here for breakfast, lunch, snack, or
even midnight snack, enjoying the endless pleasure of eating dumplings.
Our next destination was a larger establishment, a pizza restaurant with a
beautiful environment and well-trained waitstaff. The owner was so busy that
he couldn't even spare time to serve us, telling us that the restaurant had
recently opened and was still busy with promotional work. We waited for
three hours to finally taste the delicious pizza in the three-story
restaurant. However, as we finished a few pieces of pizza, we realized that
it was too expensive for many people, making it more of a luxury for the
rich.
In general, the dining scene in the Changwu area, whether it is low-end,
mid-range or high-end, has one thing in common: food hygiene and nutritional
value are both taken seriously. Good hygiene means fewer illnesses. However,
high-end restaurants also have a fatal weakness: their prices are too high
for most people. The pizza restaurant is a prime example. We spent over 100
yuan on just a few slices of pizza, which is beyond the reach of many
ordinary people. This is one of the reasons why the pizza restaurant is not
very busy.
Overall, the dining scene in the Changwu area is quite good, and we believe
it will become even more brilliant in the future. |
