You celebrated your birthday recently. Your aunt in Jelapang could not attend the party but sent you a birthday card and a cheque for RM500. Write a letter thanking her for the generous gift.

Dear Aunt Anifah

How are you and your family? I do hope you are all well. It has been some time since we saw you, but like you, we have all been very busy.

I am writing to thank you for the beautiful birthday card which I received yesterday. Thank you also for the generous gift of RM500. What a wonderful surprise it was to see the cheque for so much money! That is definitely the most generous gift I've received for my seventeenth birthday. Thank you very much indeed.

As you have suggested, I shall use it to buy something I really want. I want to buy a road bike. In fact, I have been saving up my pocket money to buy a bicycle. You see, my friends and I are concerned for the environment and we would like to show that concern in a practical way. That is why we have been walking to school. We want to be able to get to school without polluting the air. I must say I enjoy walking. It is good exercise, but cycling would be much quicker. I need to save precious time so that I can study for the upcoming examinations.

Once I have bought my bicycle, I will upload the picture on Facebook so you can see it. I am dreaming of a red bicycle. Mum and Dad have promised to take me to a good bicycle shop in town over the weekend. They shall pay most of the cost, of course. I shall use the money that I've been putting aside for that purpose. Together with the generous amount you have given me, I shall soon be the proud owner of a bicycle. I am so excited - finally my dream is going to come true! Thank you very much again!

Your loving nephew,
