A famous person I would like to meet

Many of us dream of meeting a famous person such as a Hollywood star or a well-known leader. Not me. The famous person I would like to meet is a Malaysian. She was born in 1983 in Penang and she is very skilful in a particular sport. Who is she? She is Nicol Ann David.

Nicol David is Malaysia's most successful sports personality. She is a professional squash player. At the age of 15, Nicol became the youngest woman squash player to win the World Junior Squash Championship. In July 2001, Nicol won the same title again making her the only woman squash player to win this title twice. This is a great achievement. Nicol has been named the Malaysian Sportswoman of the Year not once but at least 8 times! Today, she is the World's top woman squash player.

I want to meet Nicol because I admire her talent and her character. Her success did not come easily to her. She started training seriously at a young age and she worked very hard. She has met with a lot of success in her chosen sport but she has also experienced failure, especially when she first started competing. Fortunately, she did not give up. Her determination to improve her game bore fruit which has led to her great success today. Furthermore, Nicol did not neglect her studies even while she was busy training and competing. She did well in all her exams.

If I meet Nicol, I would ask her to share with me how she manages her time so well. It is amazing how someone can combine both studies and sports and do so well in both. I believe I can learn from her. I would like to get to know her as a friend and not as a celebrity because I think this humble and pleasant person would be a wonderful friend.

In conclusion, I think that Nicol David is a wonderful role model for teenagers like me. Meeting her would be an eye-opening experience and I would learn a lot. I hope to get this opportunity one day.
