Ranjit, Najib and Wei Liang are three eleven-year-old boys who attend the same school as I. The four of us keep each other company for most of our hours in school. They are an extremely jolly bunch to be with because they are forever up to playing pranks on other classmates. Once, we put a false spider under John's desk. He was
scared stiff when he looked under his desk and thought it was a real spider. The four of us had a good time rolling over with laughter after that incident.
However, three weeks ago, the boys did something with
dire consequences. They approached me one morning in school and asked me to join them in blading. I told them I would love to go blading with them and I asked them on which weekend they were planning to meet. "We don't mean any weekend, we want to go blading right now!" Ranjit exclaimed unbelievably.
"You mean you are skipping school to go blading?" I asked incredulously. "It isn't right!" I said with some severity. But the boys would not listen. They managed to hide in the toilet on their way back to class and they climbed the back fence of the school to get out later.
As luck would have it, the discipline master was on his rounds in the neighbourhood to catch any pupils playing truant. All three boys were caught
red-handed. They were sent to detention immediately and their parents were informed of their misbehaviour. |
