Many people have hobbies to occupy their free time and prevent them from becoming bored. I prefer sitting quietly in my room, reflecting on the kind of person I am. I also use that time to assess my character, in the hope that I can improve myself to become a better and more caring person.
So far, the negative aspects of myself would be my impatient character. I often condemn friends who turn up late for an appointment with me, even if she or he has a good excuse. For example, I once got hopping mad at Irene who turned up only fifteen minutes late. My bad mood then affected the whole outing that day with her. I do not blame her for becoming angry with me in return. She pointed out how intolerant I could be and she told me I should
strive to improve that aspect of me.
I thought about what Irene had said and decided that perhaps it was about time to change for the better. Which reminds me of my good point, that is, my willingness to learn. I believe that everyone can improve themselves, in any area they choose, if only they
put their hearts to it. My determination to keep trying is one point which helps me to go far in my studies and sports.
I know that not everyone is a perfect person. Some have
loathsome tempers while others have sharp tongues which can hurt people's feelings. However, I believe that a little bit of change goes a long way and change should always start with oneself. |
