On most days, my home is peaceful and quiet. But there are days when it turns
into a battlefield. This is because five people with very different
personalities live together under one roof.
They are my parents, my older brother, my younger sister and I. My parents are
in their early forties. My father is an accountant while my mother is a bank
officer. Both of them love outdoor activities such as jogging and swimming.
However, they have different tastes when it comes to food and TV programs. My
father loves eating meat while my mother is vegetarian. My father enjoys
watching documentaries but my mother prefers Korean drama. However, they are of
like mind when it comes to their children. They are strict but fair. If we
step out of line, we get punished. But if we
do something well, we get praised.
My siblings and I have very little in common. My older brother is shy and
solemn. He loves computer games, classical music and history! My little sister
is sociable and has more than a hundred friends on Facebook. She is mad about
small furry things like hamsters and mice, loves reading comics and likes loud
music. As for me, I am the sporty kind and I do hang
out with a bunch of friends who
share my interests. I like playing hockey and watching motorcycle racing, and I
loathe furry things.
Needless to say, we argue a lot. Big brother wants to listen to classical
music but little sister insists on playing her latest rock music CD. Little
sister bores me to tears about what her cute hamsters are doing or what her best
friend said while I'm trying to watch a race. Sometimes, I have to yell at her
to make her leave me alone. But of course that would result in a big quarrel and
a scolding from our parents. Fortunately, we get over our disagreements very
quickly and peace returns to our home.
My family is like a lot of other families. We are different individuals even
though we have the same family name. We fight sometimes but we care about one
another. Nothing can break our bond. |
