The Terrifying Storm |
|
The air was thick and oppressive, making it difficult to breathe. I looked up at
the sky, and my heart sank as I saw the ominous clouds gathering above me. I
knew that a storm was coming, and it was going to be a bad one.
As I hurried home, the wind picked up, and the leaves on the trees started
swirling around me. I quickened my pace, knowing that I needed to get inside
before the rain started. But it was too late. As soon as I stepped through the
front door, the rain came pouring down.
The wind was so strong that it felt like it was going to tear the house apart. I
rushed to close all the windows, but before I could finish, there was a loud
crash, and the front windowpanes shattered. Rainwater flooded in, and I had to
move all the furniture away from the window to keep it from getting wet.
Looking outside, I saw chaos on the streets. The rain was coming down in sheets,
and the water was rising fast, flooding the streets and pouring out of the
drains. Cars were breaking down, and the honking and hooting of horns added to
the deafening noise of the storm.
Suddenly, there was a deafening sound, and I looked out to see the giant tembusu
tree in front of my house snap in half. Lightning flashed, and I saw the angsana
trees by the side of the street uprooted. I felt paralyzed with fear.
Running upstairs to my room, I could hear the thunder roar and the lightning
flash. Then the power went out, and I was left alone in the darkness. I huddled
under my blanket, shivering with fear and cold, waiting for my parents to come
home.
Finally, the storm subsided, and I dared to look outside. The destruction was
overwhelming. Trees were uprooted, branches and debris scattered everywhere, and
giant craters where the trees had been wrenched whole from the sidewalks.
It was like something out of a disaster movie. It would take a long time for the
streets to be cleared and for life to return to normal. But for me, the memory
of that terrifying storm would stay with me forever. |
