A Disastrous First Day at School: My Unforgettable
Experience |
|
I never thought of myself as dumb, but after my disastrous first day at school,
I could think of no other way to describe myself. I was supposed to be helping
keep an eye on the Year One pupils, how hard could that be? The morning passed
quickly, and I only had to escort the pupils to the toilet a couple of times.
But during recess, chaos broke out in the canteen. Food went flying, children
screamed, parents shrieked, and teachers yelled. Even the principal was not
spared when he slipped on the mess and knocked into the two cleaners who came
running to the scene with their brooms, mops, and pails. I could not control my
laughter, even when Mr. Tan was sitting on the floor glaring at me.
As a result, I was punished and ordered to clean up the mess in the canteen. My
back ached, my hands were stiff, and my head was spinning as I scraped every bit
of mess until 6.00 p.m. Finally, the principal gave me a letter of immediate
dismissal, citing that I had not supervised the children sufficiently, causing
distress to all.
I never thought that my first day at school would be so disastrous. From helping
out to getting dismissed in just a few hours, it was an unforgettable experience
that I will always remember. |
