The Benefits of Self-Motivation Program for Students in
Today's Advanced Era |
|
Whether we realize it or not, our country's development progress is increasingly
prominent on the world stage. However, we are often shocked by various social
issues created by our own people. Cases such as free mixing, illegal racing, and
others have tarnished our society's image because the perpetrators consist of
the younger generation, who are students in schools. These problems arise due to
various causes and factors, but schools usually organize motivational programs
for students to foster civic attitudes in them. The organization of this program
involves a lot of expenses and takes time and effort from teachers to ensure
that their students benefit from their participation. The question that arises
is what are the benefits of self-motivation programs for students?
The most essential benefit of organizing motivational programs or camps is that
they open the eyes and minds of students about the importance of
self-motivation. Perhaps parents or family members at home have overlooked this
matter, but schools, as the primary educational institution, should educate
students about the importance of self-motivation. This is essential not only
during their time as students but also as a spiritual nourishment for their
entire lives. Most students who do not achieve good results in academic or
co-curricular areas are found to lack self-motivation. If they are exposed to
and realize the importance of having complete self-motivation in tackling any
task, an intelligent and knowledgeable society can undoubtedly be produced.
Today's students should already know their interests and future goals so that
parents can help plan a journey that matches their students' desires and
abilities. Ultimately, if students have the will and are motivated, they will
undoubtedly be able to achieve their goals, no matter what obstacles come their
way. As the Malay proverb says, even a blunt machete will become sharp if
sharpened.
Another benefit that students will gain when participating in motivational
programs is that it will shape their self-discipline. Students will be exposed
to tips or ways to learn more easily by trained motivational consultants or
experts. This sharing is critical because students do not know how to
effectively learn because their backgrounds and abilities are different.
Therefore, facilitators responsible for the students' motivational program
should provide solutions or approaches to students to study or review lessons
better. For example, techniques for writing concise notes, using flashcards to
reinforce memorization, and identifying the pattern of questions likely to be
released in school or public exams. As a result, students will become more
diligent and aware that each of them is capable of achieving academic or
extracurricular success. Equipped with strong motivation, students will become
someone who never gives up, as the Malay saying goes, "if there is a will, there
is a way."
At the same time, leadership skills can be cultivated among students if they
participate in self-motivation programs. Self-leadership values should be
possessed by every individual as they approach adulthood because the older we
become, the more responsibilities and trusts we will shoulder, which need to be
carried out well. With high self-leadership, students will prioritize essential
things over trivial matters that do not benefit themselves. Besides that,
participation in motivational programs will expose students to become leaders. |
