An Unfortunate Turn of Events: My Countryside Holiday Gone
Wrong |
|
I had been eagerly anticipating a wonderful holiday in the countryside with my
beloved family members, including my cousins, grandparents, and my favourite
aunt Ram. We were going to stay at an old colonial bungalow that used to be the
estate manager's residence during my great grandfather's time.
My dad sent me to the station to catch the train to Batu Gajah. Although the
train ride was slow and uneventful, I was excited to disembark at the station
and reunite with my family.
As I arrived, my cousin Ramesh greeted me and drove me up the driveway. The
sight of the old bungalow immediately triggered fond memories of childhood play
and family celebrations. As we arrived at the porch, my arrival was met with
warm embraces and greetings from my doting relatives.
We spent the day catching up and chatting, over a sumptuous lunch and delicious
homemade snacks. That evening we explored the small town, before returning to
enjoy a lavish dinner with Aunt Rani's famous crab curry. We sat on the large
veranda, listening to old Tamil songs, as grandma playfully braided my hair.
That night, we stayed up late, sharing secrets and spooky stories. I drifted off
to sleep, dreaming of Aunt Rani's heavenly crab curries. The following morning,
I woke up early and decided to go for a jog before breakfast. Without telling
anyone, I set off for my run, wearing tights and a Linkin Park T-shirt.
However, as I ran, a motorcycle came speeding around the bend, without any
lights on. The rider, headed for the rubber plantations, did not see me in time
and I was knocked off my feet, crashing into the bushes with a loud crack. When
I came to, I was in the hospital, with a fractured leg and multiple bruises.
Unfortunately, the local hospital was unable to treat my injuries and I had to
be transferred to the Ipoh General Hospital, where I spent the next two weeks
immobilized in orthopaedics, undergoing surgery to insert a metal plate and four
screws. This unexpected turn of events turned what was meant to be a lovely
holiday into a painful and challenging ordeal. |
