My Household Chores: The Tasks I Love and Hate |
|
As an only child and a boy, I am fortunate enough to have a mother who dotes on
me. However, my father is quick to remind me that I should not be spoiled and
encourages my mother to delegate household chores to me. While I agree that it
is my responsibility to help lighten my mother's duties, there are certain tasks
that I enjoy doing and others that I dislike.
Firstly, I am a clean and fastidious person by nature, which makes sweeping the
floor a dreaded task for me. I take ages to complete it, searching for every bit
of dirt and litter in every nook and cranny of our flat. My mother often nags me
about my slowness, which only makes me dislike this chore even more.
Taking out the rubbish is another task that I do not enjoy. The sour smell of
leftovers and swill is revolting, and I try to dispose of it as fast as possible
when I carry it to the common corridor outside to throw it down the chute. My
father finds my disgust amusing, but I cannot help it.
Ironing is another chore that I do not have the aptitude for. I am impatient by
nature and try to complete the task as quickly as possible. Unfortunately, my
laziness often results in clothes that are not properly ironed, and my father
insists that I do it again. It is a tedious and bothersome task for me.
On the other hand, I enjoy using machines and love to control them. I am always
the first to start the washing machine and vacuum cleaner. The mechanical
clanging and wringing of these appliances fascinates me. When I vacuum the
floor, I imagine myself as a monster, sucking up the dust and dirt like ugly
human beings.
Finally, cooking is a task that I thoroughly enjoy. While others may see it as a
chore, I relish in the opportunity to prepare a meal. My mother is an average
cook, and my father cannot cook at all. However, I have a talent for cooking,
and both of my parents acknowledge it. When I am given the task of preparing the
weekend meal, I spend the entire day planning, gathering the freshest
ingredients, and cooking the dishes to perfection. The satisfaction of those who
enjoy my food is all the reward I need.
In conclusion, these are my likes and dislikes when it comes to household
chores. While I hope I have not turned anyone against certain tasks, I believe
it is important to acknowledge our strengths and weaknesses in completing them. |
