The Glowing Trees

In a future year, many criminals took advantage of the darkness of night to commit crimes such as theft and robbery, causing great concern among the people. Just when everyone was at a loss, some good news arrived: Dr. Dai had discovered a way to control light sources. Upon hearing this news, the entire country became a sea of joy.

Dr. Dai was soon appointed as a consultant by the National Management Committee. He instructed people to remove all the utility poles. However, when people questioned him, he simply smiled and didn't answer.

Later, Dr. Dai appeared on television and called on citizens to plant seedlings in the positions where the utility poles had stood, declaring that he would provide all the seedlings. However, some people expressed great dissatisfaction with this, "Our city is already well greened, what we need is bright lights!"

Dr. Dai did not refute this. Instead, he asked everyone to water the seedlings with a special liquid, explaining, "This is a growth-promoting hormone. If everything goes well, the small seedlings will grow tall in just a few days."

Sure enough, in just a few days, the small seedlings had grown as tall as the original utility poles. What's even more surprising was that when night fell, the small seedlings emitted a dazzling light, illuminating the streets as bright as day.

"We don't understand how trees can emit light?" "This is actually the action of luciferase, which is present in fireflies and some luminescent fungi in the ocean. We cut the genetic code for luciferase and transferred it into some plant cells, giving the plants the ability to emit light. As the plants grow, the fluorescence they emit becomes brighter and brighter. That's also why I used hormones to make the seedlings grow quickly."

The planting of these glowing trees resulted in a significant reduction in crime, and the city regained its former calm and tranquility.
