The Tree of Life |
|
As the wind gently blows, the tree grows taller and stronger. In the blink of an
eye, it has already passed halfway through its sixteen-year life. The rustling
of the leaves echoes through the air, stirring up memories within me.
In my childhood, I would fight with my younger brother over toys. I would pester
my mother to get me what I wanted. I would argue with my classmates over
leadership positions. Looking back, I realize how innocent and cute I was back
then.
But in this poetic autumn, the tree is slowly entering maturity. It has no time
to enjoy the beauty of the season. The wind slowly erodes the withered leaves,
and though it is reluctant to let them go, it must. The leaves only bring him a
burden now, and he must endure the pain of letting them fall. Winter is
approaching, and he is left with nothing but bare branches.
The harsh winds and rain beat against him, but he is not afraid. He faces this
challenge with determination, remembering the lessons taught to him by Mother
Nature. He remembers to deepen his roots, to stay strong and resilient through
this test.
With the last cold wind of winter, a warm rain falls from the sky. He knows that
spring has arrived. In the hazy mist, he looks weathered yet youthful. His hard
branches are about to sprout new buds from the winter jasmine. He is
experiencing the most beautiful moment of his life. Mother Nature smiles sweetly
behind him.
In the blink of an eye, sixteen-year-old winter has passed. Now comes the
challenge of growing stronger. Perhaps, many years from now, when I look back at
the fallen yellow leaves, I will laugh at these innocent moments. I will realize
that at sixteen, I have gained a little more maturity. |
