Kurt's Awakening to the Value of Friendship |
|
Kurt was lying in the hospital. He had been there for several hours before
regaining consciousness. He vaguely remembered being hit by something but could
not recall what happened after that. Kurt tried to move his legs, but he could
hardly feel any sensation due to the injury. As an attendant entered his room,
Kurt opened his eyes and looked at him expectantly. The attendant examined him
and assured him that he would be up and about in a week's time.
Kurt learned that he had been a victim of a hit and run accident, and his
injuries included loss of blood and fractures in the legs. As he tried to recall
what happened, he remembered his friend, Harry. Harry had been a devoted friend
all these years, but Kurt had never appreciated him. He realized that all these
years, he had been like a parasite and that he needed to change.
Days passed, and Kurt learned that Harry had given him blood and money and had
been a source of strength for his family. Kurt realized that he could never
repay Harry for all he had done. Although he was not worthy, he was fortunate
enough to have Harry's friendship. Kurt resolved to reciprocate Harry's kindness
and be a different man. |
