Civilization is not just a virtue; it is a cultivation of culture. Despite its
seemingly trivial nature, civilization plays a significant role in both social
and personal interactions. For millennia, the tradition of civilized virtues
has been passed down, earning our nation the title of the "Ancient Land of
Civilization." The Chinese people have always taken pride in their uninterrupted
and splendid cultural heritage. Civilization generally refers to a nation's
developmental state, the sum of its material and spiritual wealth, and its soft
power. In practical life, a person with high qualities and modern civilization
must possess good etiquette and manners. The essence of civilization and virtues
can be found in the small things that often go unnoticed in our daily lives.
For instance, consider Comrade Lenin. As he was descending the stairs, he
suddenly encountered a female worker carrying a bucket of water up the narrow
passage. Recognizing that it was the Chairman of the People's Committee, Lenin,
instead of allowing her to step back and give way, stopped her and said, "You
have already carried a large bucket of water halfway, and I am empty-handed.
Please, go ahead!" This act exemplifies good etiquette and civilized behavior.
Though civilization is ever-present, it is crucial to start with ourselves.
We should proactively greet acquaintances, offer our seats to the elderly on
public transport, and refrain from littering in public spaces, among other
things.
Public civility is a concentrated reflection of social consciousness, but it
is built upon the foundation of our individual moral upbringing. Hence, personal
civilization is paramount.
The transmission of civilization from generation to generation has continued
through the ages. As primary school students, it is our responsibility to carry
on this legacy. We must embody the virtues of a good student, abandon bad
habits, and continually improve ourselves on the path of growth. Let our
campuses blossom with beauty, and may society ignite with sparks of
civilization. Let us embrace civilization hand in hand with virtues, walking
together on this journey—civilization leads the way. |
