Surprising Strength: Overcoming Failure with Perseverance |
|
After entering junior high school, I nervously took my first monthly exam. The
intense review before the exam left me feeling exhausted and my brain struggling
to keep up with the rapid pace of the questions. In a state of oxygen
deprivation, I didn't know the answers to basic questions and my math score hit
an all-time low. Faced with a pile of papers covered in red marks, I considered
giving up. But looking at my classmates around me, I knew I couldn't. I wiped
away my tears and resolved to be strong, to fight the mistakes on my test, and
to correct every error until I got it right. I started to believe in myself.
Fifty nights passed with the glow of lanterns as I persisted and persevered. I
eventually won my first monthly exam and walked out of the exam room with a
smile, telling myself that I could do it. However, I also faced failure. I
expected to cry and be upset, but instead I chose to be strong. I felt like the
ugly duckling, but I still had wings to chase my dreams. Even when my wings were
broken, I remained steadfast.
The final exam was approaching, and I pushed myself to do better. I thought of
my goals, my teacher's expectations, and my parents' hopes. These thoughts
encouraged me to keep going. Though I failed again, I still persevered. I never
said "I give up."
I didn't expect that I could be so strong, even when faced with failure time and
time again. |
