The Changing Nature of Begging in Today's Society |
|
In this society, there are two types of beggars. The first type has a stable job
and stays in one location, waiting for passersby to give them money. The second
type wanders the streets and relentlessly pursues anyone they see as a potential
target.
As the country continues to prosper and the economy develops, some beggars have
become more selective and no longer accept leftover scraps. They have fixed
prices and won't accept less than what they ask for. It's as if they have gone
from begging for money to commanding how much money people should give them.
It's truly sad that in today's society, there are young adults in their late
teens and middle-aged people in their 40s and 50s who will kneel on the ground
for a few dollars. I don't understand why they choose to beg. If they are not
physically disabled, why not start from scratch and work hard to build a better
life? Why choose a profession that society has deemed as unworthy and not
contribute to society? Even if someone is smart, if they refuse to work, they
will lead a vulgar life. Living without constraints and sleeping under the stars
may seem free and easy, but I doubt anyone truly aspires to live that way.
I don't know what my future holds, but I know I will never become a beggar. Even
though they live a simple life, wearing timeless clothes and strolling leisurely
through the streets, lying down whenever they feel tired, and admiring the night
sky, I won't be drawn to that lifestyle. I have hands, and I won't beg for
anything. I believe I can build my own stage and shine as the brightest star in
my own way.
To all the beggars out there, I urge you not to give up hope. It's never too
late to start from scratch and become a useful member of society. |
