David was cycling along the West Coast Park when he saw two teenagers being attacked by several teen thugs armed with bottles, knives and barbecue skewers. The thugs fled when David shouted, "Police! Police!" David rushed to help the teenagers, one of whom was badly injured. Her head was bleeding profusely. There appeared to be a big gash on her forehead. The other seemed dazed and confused. David cycled quickly to the telephone booth to call an ambulance. On the way, he met a couple taking their evening walk and told them to stay with the victims while he made the call.

Nothing further would have happened if this good Samaritan had not pursued the matter. However, David felt that justice had to be done and decided to take the matter to task. After the ambulance had left with the victims, he combed the area for the teen thugs. He saw them eating and laughing at a coffee kiosk. He approached them. One of the thugs saw him and alerted the others. Suddenly, the whole gang fell upon him. David ran as he had never run before. The thugs closed in on him. He tried to jump across a drain but fell into it instead. When he crawled out of the drain, the gangsters had vanished. David was badly bruised.

A group of policemen who were looking for the gangsters, found David. He was pale and in pain. The police praised him for being a good Samaritan but admonished him for trying to do their job by himself.

The gangsters were eventually caught and David learnt his lesson.
