Iran has launched a rocket carrying a 500kg capsule with animals into space as
part of its efforts to advance its space program, which includes ambitions for
human missions. The rocket, named Salman, was launched from an undisclosed
location and successfully reached an orbit of 130km.
The capsule, developed by the Iranian Space Agency, is reported to be the
heaviest biological capsule in the history
of Iran's space program. The specific type of animals in the capsule has not
been disclosed.
Critics argue that the current administration, under President Ebrahim Raisi,
has revived efforts in Iran's space program, which had slowed during the
previous administration led by President Hassan Rouhani. The U.S. and its allies
continue to express concerns over Iran's missile and space launches,
particularly those involving long-range ballistic missiles. |
