OpenAI, the company behind ChatGPT, announced the dismissal of CEO Sam Altman on
Friday (Nov 17) due to the board's loss of confidence in his leadership
abilities. The sudden firing surprised employees, revealed through an internal
announcement and the company's blog.
Altman gained prominence for ChatGPT's
advanced capabilities, but his departure, attributed to a lack of consistent
communication with the board, raised speculation about ethical concerns.
Co-founder Greg Brockman also left the board.
The board expressed gratitude for Altman's contributions and appointed Mira
Murati as interim CEO. Microsoft, a major OpenAI investor, affirmed its
commitment to the partnership. Analysts anticipate minimal impact on OpenAI's
momentum. |
