Ukraine's determination to maintain its territorial integrity was reiterated
during a meeting between the country's foreign minister and China's special
envoy to Kyiv, Li Hui. Despite China's close ties with Moscow, the envoy arrived
in Ukraine as part of his European tour to promote Beijing's peace plan.
Ukraine emphasized its refusal to accept any peace proposals that would
result in territory loss or a frozen conflict. The meeting also highlighted
China's mediating role, particularly regarding nuclear safety and the resumption
of grain exports through the Black Sea.
Concurrently, Turkey's president extended a UN-backed deal allowing Ukraine
grain shipments, receiving gratitude from Kyiv and appreciation from UN
Secretary-General António Guterres, who emphasized the significance of the
agreement for global food security.
Russia, however, has voiced concerns about
disparities in the deal's implementation and has threatened to
withdraw. Amid these developments, China's envoy aims to engage with relevant
parties and facilitate a political settlement for the Ukrainian crisis, despite
criticism of China's neutral stance on Russia's invasion. |
