Dear Uncle Saki,
It was nice meeting you again after all these years. In fact,
you have hardly changed except for your greying hair. I know I
have definitely changed.
It must ___1___
as a great shock to you to hear that I have chosen to become a
teacher instead of a lawyer. Well, I was younger then and I
thought that being a lawyer was everything, but I was wrong. I
hated the ___2___ life
although it was financially very rewarding. So, I decided to
quit and start all ___3___
again.
Actually, I went into teaching ___4___
by chance. There was a teacher on maternity leave in my sister's
school and I agreed to help out. The rest is ___5___.
Now, I find that teaching is very rewarding. It has its ups and
downs but at the end of the day, when you know you have helped
someone make something ___6___
his life, that is all that matters. Teaching will not make me a
millionaire, but I feel that my life is far richer than anyone
else. Every time I am able to make a child see the light, I am
rewarded. Besides, I can also ___7___
my knowledge of the outside world to them, and use my acting and
debating skills to the fullest. I also have time to read and
travel during the holidays.
I hope you are not too disappointed with me. I know that you
have always wanted me to become a lawyer but I am very happy
with my vocation and I wouldn't change it for anything else.
Your niece, |
