On June 24th, 2005, Parana-born Serginho Laus set the record ___1___

River in ___2___ Amazon like
an avalanche just a few times a year. The waves can reach 17
feet in ___3___, moving at

miles at some points, the noise is ___4___
deafening. The wave's fury is such that trees ___5___
from jungle shores, boats ___6___
and wild animals flee in panic. The mud banks along the
riverside change, and that day the only place for a potential
breaking of the record was on the mouth of the river, to the

Laus achieved an unbelievable record of 10.1 km surfing
non-stop in 33 minutes 15 seconds. 'Surfing that gigantic wall
of water was completely ___7___,'
said Laus. |
