Early one April morning, a stray Siamese cat arrived at our
kitchen door. He was so starved that his body hung over my arm
like an empty sock. What fascinated me was the non-stop purr

him. My children named him glut, referring to his gluttony. He
never stopped eating.
My children also kept a puppy named Lucky. He ___2___
while fighting with a neighbor's dog. I warned them to keep
Lucky away from Glut, as cats and dogs ___3___

One day, I saw my children taking Glut to Lucky's cage. The
cat snarled, hot anger blazing in his eyes. I rushed to wards
them. Then, to our surprise, they sniffed each other and Lucky
pawed him playfully. By afternoon, Glut and Lucky were wedged

To my amazement, Glut began to shadow Lucky ___5___

to rest, Glut was always nearby. When he got up to drink, so did
Glut. It was as if Glut had decided to become Lucky's eyes. In
