In a melancholic twist, unsuspecting mothers are led astray into the clutches
of "The Mother" on the fateful weekend of their own celebration. Alas, this
woeful creation, a feeble and ill-formed
action thriller, stumbles through its meager premise.
Jennifer Lopez, shifting gears from her comedic repertoire, portrays an
unnamed former military sniper entangled with unsavory cohorts. Seeking
redemption, she seeks refuge for her unborn child within a witness protection
program, but as the years unfold, a convoluted chain of events ensues.
Under the helm of director Niki Caro, the film lingers, burdened by a
lackluster script that fails to elevate Lopez's valiant efforts. On this
Mother's Day, spare yourself the misguided inclusion of this ill-fated tale in
your viewing repertoire. |
