"Bruiser" is a moving coming-of-age story
about a 14-year-old boy named Darious who struggles to find himself while
navigating the conflicting influences of his disciplinarian father and a drifter
named Porter, who turns out to be his real father.
As Darious seeks a new male role model, he learns important lessons about
life and the truth about his family's past. The film features strong
performances from its cast, especially Trevante Rhodes as Porter.
While the film has some rough edges and an ambiguous ending, it feels like a
genuine and vital portrayal of Black fatherhood and the complexities of growing
up. |
