The Power of Respect |
|
As long as everyone learns to respect, the world will become a better place.
If each person respects a blade of grass, the world will become greener; if
each person respects a flower, the world will become more beautiful; if each
person respects a life, the world will become more vibrant...
Respect comes in many forms: respecting teachers, respecting elders. If the
whole world learns to respect, we will enter another civilization, a
beautiful world without scenes of bloodshed, teeming with life. However, I
once witnessed a terrible incident where respect was absent.
I was riding my bicycle, on my way to meet a sister. As I approached, a
person pointed at my dog and shook his head, muttering to himself, "Another
one." I heard the word "another" and a question flashed through my mind:
"What has happened?"
I hurried forward and saw a dog lying in a pool of blood. There was so much
blood; if it were us losing so much blood, we would surely be in critical
condition, let alone this young dog that hadn't even turned one year old
yet. My sister had been bitten by the dog, but she still stayed by its side.
The driver stood nearby, looking disdainfully, and as soon as my sister's
parents arrived, he immediately put on a smile. His face changed faster than
flipping through a book. When he saw it was someone he knew, he exchanged a
few words and left two hundred yuan before walking away. But my sister was
still immersed in sadness.
Onlookers nearby advised, "It's just a dog; you can buy another one." "This
crazy dog even bit its owner; it's not worth it."
I became angry at that moment, wishing I could tell them, "Just a dog? A dog
is also a life. Who gives you the right to say it's gone just like that? If
two hundred yuan can buy a life, then you can use two hundred yuan to bring
your deceased loved ones back to life! When you truly treat a dog as your
own family, and your loved ones are killed by a car, what would you do? And
what we want is not money, but a simple 'I'm sorry.' Is that so difficult?"
Later, I learned more and found out that the driver saw the dog. He could
have stopped and let the dog pass, but instead, he chose to drive forward.
When I heard this, I understood. This is a lack of respect. If each person
does not respect a life, the world will eventually lose its vitality, and
there will be bloody scenes every day. If life after life is lost, then is
this world still a world?
If each person respects life, the world will become different, even
enchanting. Some say it is difficult to make the world a better place, but
it doesn't seem particularly difficult to me. In fact, we are only one step
away, and this step will make the world more fascinating. This step is
respect. |
