Life's Perfection

Paula had been holding on to her son, Darren, for ten years, praying for a medical miracle that would cure him of his immunity health problems. But from the day he was born, his immune system had been unable to handle the environment. Even a sudden change in weather or any childhood treat would result in severe reactions, leaving him gasping for breath, vomiting, or experiencing stomach cramps.

Medical specialists could find nothing wrong with him, and the family had tried every possible treatment suggested to alleviate his suffering, but nothing worked permanently. His agony and fear left Darren questioning why he was unlike other children his age and why he couldn't run, jump, play or eat anything he liked.

Life for Darren was a struggle, and he had no friends. Even if he had any, they had to visit him dressed in sterile attire. In his loneliness, he would gaze out of his bedroom window, longing to be with the other children, although he was there with them in spirit.

One day, during a hot spell, Darren became seriously ill when a maid carelessly left a window open. He was rushed to the hospital and spent his last days under the watchful eyes of doctors and nurses, with the tender loving care of his mother. Paula never left his side, and between mother and child, there developed a bond that was so special.

Darren faced his plight with a stoicism that would put many-a-man to shame. He comforted his parents when they were down, giving them courage and growing them to be strong and full of hope. On the day that he breathed his last, Darren thanked his parents for giving him the best years of his life. He smiled as he closed his eyes, and his parents put him to rest. He lay there, quiet and peaceful, without any tubes and wires. Darren was life's perfection, complete and whole.

In summary, the story "Life's Perfection" tells of a child, Darren, who had immunity health problems from birth. His family and medical specialists tried everything to cure him, but nothing worked permanently. Despite his agony and loneliness, Darren faced his plight with stoicism, comforting his parents and giving them courage. Darren died peacefully, leaving his parents with the knowledge that they gave him the best years of his life.
