Trust is not unilateral, nor is it solely based on one's
efforts. As the saying goes, "It takes two to tango." Trust serves as a bridge
for communication between individuals and acts as our passport to genuine
connections. Both the giver and the receiver of trust must extend their sincere
hands, for it is through this act that friendly applause will resound around us.
I once heard someone say, "Happiness is right at your feet." At that time, I
didn't understand its meaning, but now I do because trust is a form of
happiness. However, this happiness has slowly been extinguished by the jaded
hearts of people who have been through countless battles. Deceit in the
marketplace, insincerity among the common people—more and more individuals live
by the saying, "People's hearts are guarded behind their skins."... I feel
deeply saddened because I see so much happiness being discarded.
This reminded me of an incident: While riding a bus home one day, I noticed a
little girl swaying due to the lack of a seat. I held her hand and said, "Little
sister, come, let big sister hold you."
Little did I know, she forcefully pulled her hand away, refusing to let me hold
her. But seeing her swaying so violently, I held her hand again and said, "Trust
me, I'm not a bad person." Unexpectedly, she burst into tears, crying and
screaming incoherently. Her family members yelled at me, "Why are you grabbing
her?" I became the center of attention on the entire bus.
Thinking back to how I acted out of goodwill, and yet that little girl, who was
only five or six years old, showed such mistrust towards others. Moreover, her
family members unjustifiably lashed out at me. I felt particularly wronged, and
tears welled up and fell down as I lowered my head.
Since then, when I take public transportation, I no longer wish to utter a
single word. I often wonder, why is it like this? If there were no deceit, no
breach of trust, no suspicion and mistrust among individuals, then the people in
this world would possess happiness.
Although people have gradually become more materially affluent, living a
comfortable life, their spiritual well-being has significantly declined. If our
interactions are filled with mutual suspicion, then what's the point of striving
for high levels of material civilization? It would be better to live a life
without worldly possessions, where at least we could still have happiness.
Extend your hand and grasp the happiness that lies within arm's reach. |
