The Farmer's
Struggle
In a mountain hut, the poor farmer resides,
Tending to three or four acres,
he abides.
Crops are sparse, taxes high, no
food to eat,
What he brings to the government
store turns to sleet.
As the year ends, he wields his hoe in vain,
With an empty home, his child
climbs the hill to gain
Acorns for sustenance, amidst a
stark reality
Of poverty, hunger, and pure
brutality.
Meanwhile, on the river, a wealthy merchant sails,
His ship carrying a hundred
pearls in bales.
Onboard, his dog feasts on meat
and rice,
A life of luxury, beyond the
farmer's sacrifice. |
