My parents have always emphasized
the importance of getting a good education. Since the day I
started school they have always told me ( 1. study / studying /
to study ) hard. They have always hoped that one day I would (
2. succeed / succeeding / to succeed ) in getting into college
or university. It was not until quite recently, however, that I
wanted ( 3. further / to further / furthering ) my studies. As a
teenager, I always avoided ( 4. discussing / to discuss /
discuss ) the subject of my education with my parents. In a away
I regret not ( 5. talking / to talk / talk ) to them about it
because I know that that they would have understood my
misgivings on the matter. Anyway, that is all in the past now.
There are three main reasons why I wish ( 6. continue /
continuing / to continue ) my studies at university. Firstly,
I believe that a university education will enable me ( 7.
getting / to get / get ) a good job later on. I am convinced
that with a good qualification I can ( 8. have / to have /
having ) a far greater choice of career and anticipate ( 9.
finding / to find / find ) a really satisfying and well-paid
job.
Secondly, I feel that spending three more years ( 10.
studying / to study / study ) without the pressure of having to
earn a living, will give me peace of mind. I would like ( 11.
study / to study / studying ) a subject in depth and become
knowledgeable in my given field. Also life at college lets us (
12. develop / to develop / developing ) as individuals since
there are many social and sporting activities we can get
involved in.
Finally, when I ( 13. completing / to complete / complete )
the degree I will be able to start repaying the tremendous debt
I owe my parents. They have always struggled ( 14. bringing / to
bring / bring ) me up well and often had to put themselves in
second place. When I get my degree it will make them ( 15.
realize / to realize / realizing ) that I too have struggled a
little in life to please them. So, here I am. I have made my
decision and I am going all out to achieve my goals. Wish me
luck ! |
