Compliment ( s ) ?

Question

: When someone praises you about something you've done.

Should we say '
Thanks for the compliment or compliments ' ? In my opinion, it should be in plural form to mean the general compliments but how about only one compliment from the person concerned ? eg.

A. You really did a great job. I doubt anyone else can handle it that way.

B. Thanks for the compliment(s) ?

:

Fran: You really did a great job. I doubt anyone else can handle it that way.
     Dan:
    Thanks for the compliment.

In the above example, Fran made two statements, but there were not, in my opinion, different enough to be two separate compliments. In other words, she said "You did a great job" then she embellished it somewhat. If she had said something complimentary about two different things the "
Thanks for the compliments" would be in order.
