The Nature of Happiness and its True Source |
|
Happiness is a universal emotion sought after by all living beings. It is not
just limited to humans but animals and even plants exhibit happiness in their
own way. A child is happy when it is fed and becomes sad when hungry. Adults,
too, often associate happiness with food and indulge in treats like chocolate,
ice cream, or buffet spreads. Even plants are happy when they receive sufficient
water and nutrients.
Beyond food, clothing, accessories, toys, gadgets, and even pets bring
happiness. Owning a house or a car, going on vacations, picnics, or watching
movies are all things that evoke happiness. However, many people find that even
with all these luxuries, they are not truly happy. This is because happiness is
subjective and can only be attained through individual preferences and
experiences.
While money can buy some happiness, it is limited. True happiness comes from
acts of kindness and sharing. It is not in receiving, possessing, or obtaining
material things or experiences, but in giving. Giving time, things, and labor to
loved ones and strangers is where true happiness resides. The most important
thing is that the act of giving should be sincere and thoughtful, not
necessarily grand or expensive.
As Mark Twain once said, "The best way to cheer yourself up is to try to cheer
somebody else up." Therefore, the true source of happiness is not in what we
possess but in what we give to others. So, let us go out and spread happiness by
making others happy. |
