Metamorphosis is an interesting (1)
phenomenon where the body undergoes an amazing
transformation. The butterfly is an insect that has to go
through this stage in its life. A butterfly is born a
caterpillar, a pest that feeds and destroys the leaves of
plants. What is interesting is that once it completes its (2)
metamorphosis and turns into a butterfly, it is
then welcomed by the plants as it promotes pollination !
A butterfly is a
(3) vulnerable
creature and it is at its pupal stage where it is the most
delicate. Unable to protect itself, its only assurance is to
make sure that it looks
(4) inconspicuous
to the rest of the surroundings.
While most butterflies are contented in staying put, others
like the Monarch Butterfly (5)
fly about 4800 kilometers between Mexico and
California every year. How's that for a tiny creature ! |
