The Fading Beauty
The petals fall, the red and green apricots small,
As swallows fly and streams encircle the halls,
The willow wisps on branches sway and call,
Yet beauty fades and sounds fade with them all.
Chimes from a swing within the walls do chime,
While on the road beyond, a traveler does climb,
Inside a lady laughs, her voice a gentle rhyme,
But laughter fades and voice grows faint with time.
The love that once was, now becomes a pain,
For where the heart once bloomed, now only wanes,
Oh, how the grasses grow, in every nook and main,
Yet beauty fades, and love is lost in vain. |
