Wanted
RUSSIAN director Timur
Bekmambetov, who caught the
attention of worldwide audiences
with his modern day fantasy/ action
Night Watch followed by the sequel
Day Watch, has landed his first
action flick for Hollywood - Wanted.
Bekmambetov proves that, like
the title of his film, he is one of
Hollywood's hot directors at the
moment as the film features some of
the industry's top talents such as
Angelina Jolie, Morgan Freeman, up-and-coming Scottish actor James McAvoy (The Last King of Scotland)
and British actor Terence Stamp.
Wanted, based on the graphic
novel by Mark Millar, concerns Wes
(McAvoy), an accountant manager
who gets bullied by everyone and
comes across as a complete
pushover. All that changes when a
fraternity of assassins known as ...
(wait for it) the Fraternity recruits
Wes and, under the guidance of Jolie
and Freeman's characters, Wes turns
into a well-oiled killing machine.
Action cliches and poses (including bullet time sequences) abound
in the trailer. It is not clear who the
Fraternity are up against although
they claim to keep the world safer
by killing off some people.
