In "99 Moons", a scientist named Bigna engages in casual sexual encounters with
strangers outside of her work. However, when she meets Frank, one of her new
sexual partners, who is interested in a serious relationship, they gradually
become a couple over the course of eight years. The film is a character-driven
exploration of their evolving relationship, which is fascinating to observe
despite their differences.
While the plot feels thin and repetitive, the raw and natural performances of
the first-time actors, Valentina Di Pace and Dominik Fellmann, make it easy to
emotionally engage with their relationship. The film is an
unflinching, honest and emotionally mature portrayal of love and
sex, with nudity in the sex scenes that may make it more suitable for adult
audiences. |
