The April Fool's Day Prank

It was a lazy Sunday afternoon, and I had just finished studying for my upcoming English test. I was about to take a quick nap when the doorbell rang. I got up to answer the door, wondering who it could be. To my surprise, it was a courier with a package for me.

"Good afternoon, Miss Sarah Lee," the courier greeted me with a smile. "I have a package for you."

I was confused. I wasn't expecting any packages, and I didn't recognize the sender's name. "I'm sorry, but I think you have the wrong address," I told him.

The courier double-checked the package and the address on his clipboard. "No, this is definitely the right address," he said, showing me the label. "It's from a Mr. John Smith."

I was still skeptical, but I signed for the package anyway. The courier left, and I opened the package to find a small plush toy and a note. The note read:

"Dear Sarah,

I hope you like this gift. Will you be my girlfriend?

Love, John"

I was shocked and confused. I didn't know anyone named John, and I certainly wasn't looking for a boyfriend. I decided to bring the package to school the next day to try and figure out what was going on.

As soon as I walked into class, my friend Amanda started giggling. "What's so funny?" I asked her.

"It's April Fool's Day, Sarah!" Amanda said, still laughing. "Did you really think someone was asking you out with a plush toy?"

I felt my face turn red as the rest of my friends joined in the laughter. "I can't believe I fell for that," I said, shaking my head.

"Don't worry, we've all been there," Amanda said, giving me a reassuring pat on the back. "Come on, let's go get some lunch."

I realized then that I had been the victim of a harmless prank. I couldn't help but laugh along with my friends, grateful for the light-hearted moment of fun on an otherwise uneventful Sunday afternoon.
