A Stray Dog's Journey to Love

I am a little dog, a stray dog, wandering among the bustling traffic all day long, drifting and swimming.

I am a dog that is hated by its owner because I got into fights with other dogs and lost my right eye. Since then, my world has been split in two - half bright, half dark. I was abandoned by my owner and left with only hunger and cold as "gifts" on New Year's Eve. I curled up in a corner of an alley, feeling hopeless. My thick, dirty and messy fur kept me a bit warm, and I slowly fell asleep.

In my dream, I was still the cute little dog I used to be. My owner gave me a big cake as a New Year's gift, and she petted me happily. I barked happily twice, and my owner praised me repeatedly.

I was shaken awake by a little boy. He thought I was dead and shook me to see if I was still alive. I opened my eyes slightly, and the little boy was happy to see me wake up. He picked me up and ran back home.

When we arrived at his house, he told his mother something, and she nodded. I couldn't understand them. He quickly carried me into the bathroom, filled a basin with water, and washed off all the dirt on my body. Then he put on a sweater that fit me and gave me a small bowl of milk and a piece of bread. I gobbled it up, and he laughed as he watched me.

The next day, and the day after that, they bought me a lot of daily necessities, and took me to get vaccinated. My eye was miraculously healed by the doctor they found.

I discovered that this world is so beautiful, so bright, and not dark at all because there is love everywhere.

Since then, I have encountered other stray dogs that have gone through what I have. Although I cannot help them like a human, I will bring them some food.

Because even though I am an animal, I also have a kind heart.
