The Power of Trust and Kindness |
|
It has been raining non-stop for over a week now, a drizzling rain that
threatens to flood the streets. I'm stuck at home, feeling bored and restless.
So I decided to take a walk outside, umbrella in hand.
As I walked from south to north, the streets were sparsely populated, probably
due to the rain. But after a few minutes, I came across a crowd of people
gathered around a man who looked to be in his forties or fifties. He was
kneeling on the ground, holding up a cardboard sign that read: "My daughter
needs surgery for a serious illness. I'm the only one working and can only make
1,000 yuan a month. I'm unable to bear the cost. Please help my daughter."
Beside him were several of his daughter's paintings, depicting birds flying
freely in the sky and flowers in full bloom. It was clear that his daughter had
a talent for painting and a love for life despite her illness.
Many people were watching, but the box in front of him only contained less than
ten yuan. Everyone was discussing whether he was a fraud. Even if it was a hoax,
a few yuan from each person wouldn't make much of a difference. I decided to
approach him. A little girl said, "Uncle, I only have 20 yuan with me today, so
this is all I can give you." After she spoke, she walked away, leaving the
middle-aged man in tears. Seeing this act of kindness, others started to donate,
and soon the box was overflowing with money. The man thanked everyone and
knocked his head in gratitude. It turned out he was mute.
As I walked home, I couldn't help but wonder if people would have been as
generous if it weren't for that little girl. Trust between people is becoming
increasingly scarce, but kindness and love still exist. Trust can save lives and
create opportunities for people, such as the possibility of becoming an artist. |
