Learning the Art of Gratitude |
|
Dear Teachers and Fellow Students,
I am here today to talk about the importance of gratitude. Gratitude is
everywhere around us. Why am I standing here today? It is because of gratitude.
I am grateful for the support of my teachers and classmates, grateful for the
opportunities given by the school, grateful for the upbringing provided by my
parents, and grateful for my own efforts. It is because of these reasons that I
am standing here today.
Religion is perhaps the most fervent advocate of gratitude. They thank the gods
and the divine. Of course, we have much more to be thankful for than they do.
We should be grateful to our parents for giving us life and raising us into
adulthood. We should be thankful to our teachers for imparting knowledge and
guiding us to become better people. We should be grateful to our friends for
showing us warmth in this world. We should be thankful to our rivals for driving
us to improve and strive harder.
We should also be thankful for the sun, which provides us with warmth, the
rivers that give us clean water, and the earth that gives us a place to live.
Gratitude is not just a mindset, but also a quality and an art.
Gratitude is optimism. Thanking difficulties and setbacks is a form of optimism.
Thanking our rivals and enemies is also a form of optimism. For people and
things we do not particularly like, we should try to think of their positive
side and the benefits they bring us. By doing so, we can be grateful for them.
Therefore, gratitude is a form of optimistic attitude.
Gratitude is also polite. If someone helps us, saying "thank you" may bring
warmth to their hearts. If someone has done a lot for us, expressing our
gratitude may encourage them to do more. Having a heart of gratitude is polite,
and it shows that we know how to repay kindness. Therefore, gratitude is a
quality of politeness.
In conclusion, learning the art of gratitude is important. It is not just about
saying "thank you," but also about having a grateful mindset, an optimistic
attitude, and a polite manner. Let us all learn to be grateful and appreciate
the good things in our lives. Thank you. |
