The Unsung Heroes of the City |
|
People often praise the beautiful flowers and lush greenery of parks, but often
forget about a certain type of tree that stands unassumingly on the side of the
road, forming a "special" landscape.
These are the sidewalk trees.
They stand quietly every day next to the busy roads, growing silently in the
dusty and polluted environment. While they may not be as resilient as pine
trees, or as lush as banyan trees, or as beautiful as ginkgo trees, they still
stand tall and provide shade in the hot summer, easing the tension and anxiety
of passersby. They are the sidewalk trees, with almost no distinguishing
features, casually planted by people and given the generic name of "sidewalk
trees."
Every day, the sidewalk trees tirelessly serve us by trapping the dust in the
air on their leaves and purifying the air for us. However, people do not often
appreciate them. People admire the trees that grow in the forest, appreciating
their height, strength, and upward striving. They would rather pay to visit the
manicured trees in the park than spare a glance at the sidewalk trees. These
silent, dedicated sidewalk trees are just like the city cleaners. They start
cleaning the city at 2am every day, and by the time people go out, the streets
have already become clean and tidy. But people often look down on them and do
not appreciate their hard work. Yet, I want to praise them. They are an
essential part of this city and their selfless dedication is worthy of
recognition.
In the past, I rarely noticed the sidewalk trees, but now I look at them with
appreciation. They are not ordinary in this city, but rather special, forming an
unusual landscape. They are the unsung heroes of the city, and we should
appreciate their contributions to our daily lives. |
