Diligence and Perseverance |
|
Success is not achieved overnight. It is the result of countless efforts and
struggles.
During our childhood, we all had grand or naive dreams, such as becoming a
scientist, a painter, or a pilot. However, as we grow up, we realize that
achieving our dreams is not as easy as we thought. So, how can we attain
success?
Qi Baishi, a famous Chinese painter, had a dream of becoming a great sculptor
during his youth. However, he did not just dream about it like other young
people; he took real action. One day, he sought the advice of a skilled
craftsman on how to improve his skills. The craftsman told him to pick a basket
of stones and keep carving them until they turned to mud. Qi Baishi took the
advice and began to carve the stones. Day after day, year after year, he finally
turned the stones into mud. His carving skills improved to a remarkable level,
and he became famous in the carving world.
Similarly, the great Chinese calligrapher, Wang Xizhi, achieved immense success
through his diligence and perseverance. Legend has it that there was a pond in
Wang Xizhi's house, where he washed his brushes after every practice. Day after
day, the pond turned black due to the ink residue. Wang Xizhi's calligraphy
became famous and respected by later generations.
Behind every successful person, there is a little-known, difficult, and
bittersweet story. They all convey the same message to us: as long as you work
hard and persist for your dreams, you will eventually achieve success.
Therefore, my fellow students, let us take advantage of the golden period of our
lives and be like the seagulls in Maxim Gorky's story, braving the storm to
pursue our dreams! |
