The Search for a Green Plant |
|
Twenty years later, I became an outstanding scientist responsible for studying
changes in the Earth's ecological environment system. One day, I received a
command from my superiors to find a green plant.
I immediately boarded the "Green Three" spaceship and traveled around the world.
With hope in my heart, I arrived at the first stop, the Eurasian grasslands.
This is a famous green tourist destination at the junction of Europe and Asia.
Long ago, a small river flowed around the grassland, nourishing the fertile land
on both sides. Shepherds sang songs, and the greenery was so dreamy. I was
certain I could find a green plant here. However, what I saw was a bare, naked
land. I sighed and turned to the second stop.
With anticipation, I arrived at the second stop, Green Grass Mountain. With a
name like that, it had to be green. And it was, at first. But then I was
disappointed again. The once-quiet river had become a turbulent flow, devouring
the mountains on both sides. The mountains were covered in dead birds and
decaying plants, with no suitable plants in sight. I left disappointed once
more.
I went on to the third and fourth stops, and so on.
Exhausted, I arrived at the 999th stop: a small village that no one cared about,
with only dozens of households leading a peaceful life, working at sunrise and
resting at sunset. The villagers took care of every blade of grass and every
tree, making the forest especially lush. Squirrels played on swings in the
forest, frogs sang happily in the fields, and children ran and played on the
grass...a harmonious, lively scene presented itself before my eyes, and I was
amazed. After a long while, I regained my composure, carefully picked a green
leaf, and left the village, afraid of disturbing their peaceful life.
My mission was accomplished, but my heart was heavy. |
